Joy - Voice Controlled Music Assistant App Reviews

Much better

Latest release loads all playlists instead of just a few. Still forces you to open the app on the phone first which is a pain. Finally can control Spotify the way I want though!

Great, but one critical flaw!

This app works very well, and its recognized almost everything Ive thrown at it. However, having to open the app on the iPhone first is super lame. That almost defeats the entire reason for having the app. I bought it to control music on my phone while using Bluetooth streaming in the car. Having to pull the app out of my pocket and open the app first while driving is a first-world problem that almost makes me want my $2 back.

Scam - absolutely misleading for apple watch

Advertise as phone app for Spotify Useless - Apple - as you are pushing your first generation of wearables - prevent useless and misleading apps to destroy the potential

Waste

Wont play any of the music through your own account. Waste of a dollar.

Absolute Trash

Read my lips: DO NOT DOWNLOAD. If you have playlists longer than five albums, this app will not play past the first five. Its also uselessly slow. Certainly a waste of money.

A party hit!!

This app was a huge hit at our Christmas party. Works great with boss Bluetooth speakers Told all my friends too :) thx for the app and keep it up

Very accurate

App gets better with each version. Very reliable companion for my drive! Plays what I want without cumbersome typing.

ABSOLUTE BS DONT BUY

The Apple Watch already allows you to control music without an app. Swipe up on the clock face and scroll over to it. This app is a joke and a waste of money and storage. Im feeling a little dumb right now.

Awesome

Great app, great functionality. Wish Spotify did this already though

DO NOT PURCHASE!

OVER PRICED, POOR INTERFACE, UNUSABLE W/out PREMIUM

Like Siri for Spotify!

It works well! Good alternative to Apple Music.

Not What I Had Hoped For

I had hoped that Joy would do more than what it does. I had hoped it would add voice control functionality to the Spotify app, but it doesn’t. You can’t use the Spotify app, and switch over to Joy, continuing to play the current song. Joy works independent of Spotify, and doesn’t know what you may have been playing. When you open Joy, Spotify actually will stop playing. Joy doesn’t know or show your collection at all, giving you a starting place. It doesn’t show any albums you may have, playlists, or any information about your Spotify Library, at all. When telling Joy to play a playlist, I may say the wrong phrase, like “Play Weekly Discovery.” Joy will say that it’s playing “Weekly Discovery” instead of “Discover Weekly.” I don’t know whether it’s playing my offline downloaded Discover Weekly Playlist, or if it’s streaming some online playlist called ‘Weekly Discovery’. If I say the wrong thing, Joy should ask, “Do you mean Discover Weekly?” I’d like a command or option to only play offline downloaded songs, to know that data isn’t being used. I’d like to see Joy pickup a song where Spotify is playing it, if I open Joy while using Spotify. I’d like to see better clarification on what’s being played; if it’s my playlist, or someone else’s playlist. I’d like to see a list of my playlists or albums when Joy opens, to give me an idea of where to start.

Slow, buggy, no Joy for me

I bought Joy hoping to use the Apple Watch app to control my Spotify music. It kind of does that but the execution is extremely poor: On the watch app: 1. Extremely slow response - tapping buttons such as skip takes 5 seconds to have effect if at all 2. Buttons seem finicky dont always register a tap 3. No visual indication that buttons have been tapped - combined with 1 and 2 makes for a very frustrating experience 4. Slow loading tracks list: Im playing a play list with maybe 100 songs and it takes around 9 seconds to load the list - not just the first time but every time 5. Volume control is on the slow track list page - so I have to wait 10 seconds any time I want to adjust the volume. 6. Playlist always starts at the first song even if on shuffle play. Thats ridiculous - if on shuffle it should start with a random song 7. Delays between songs - there are gaps of up to 15 seconds between songs during playback 8. Regular crashes - the watch app locked up completely after the 3rd song played the first time I used the app - I had to force quit it on the watch So in summary not much Joy here for me. Cannot recommend until the numerous issues are fixed.

Needs Chromecast support

Liking it so far. Like others have said, I was hoping Id see everything on Spotify, not just the playlists I create but thats okay. Really with I could cast to chromecast. There doesnt seem to be a way!? Would have given it 5 stars if it had it.

Hands free with Apple earphones

This app works beautifully with Apple earphones once I figured out dbl click + hold middle button takes voice command. Life saver!

Just what I was looking for!

Great job. Needs a little work on recognizing artists, but this allows me to ask for music while driving. Hands free. The way it should be. Also please make available for complications. Thanks.

Horrible

Dont waste your money, horrible horrible. Its dosent even play it though Spotify so hope you have some data to listen to the music you already have downloaded. Stupid stupid app

HORRIBLE

Horrible A.I. Doesnt understand anything and needs premium to do anything when the app doesnt even work. Typical money grabber

I love Joy!

I love the UI of this app and the simplicity it offers. The Apple Watch companion app allows me to control my music from my wrist in locations that dont have Bluetooth speakers. Overall, its a great app!

Excellent App - Amazing Service!

This app will allow your phone to function similarly to Amazons "Alexa". If the app is open, you can simply "ask" it to play anything on Spotify Premium and it will instantly comply! ( Spotify Premium must be purchased separately from the Joy app .) If the app is closed, you can simply enable the "Hey Siri" vocal command function ( requires iPhone plugged into a power source) and ask it to open " Joy". Joy will automatically open & its mic will beep, requesting your music selection. There tech support was amazingly quick to respond to my technical questions and were able to resolve my misunderstandings very quickly! 5 stars for an amazing app & 5 stars for lightning fast, excellent tech support!
